With the 10th anniversary of The Rocky Mountain Rangers being reestablished in Prince George, the City held a flag raising in recognition today (Wednesday).

Mayor Lyn Hall, City Council and staff, and members of The Rocky Mountain Rangers gathered at City Hall.

Before the flag was raised, Hall declared that from April 1st to the 7th would be recognized as Ranger Week in Prince George.

Deputy Commanding Officer, Major Darcey Hormann said the reestablishment in PG made sense.

“It’s an outstanding community. It’s one that didn’t have Canadian Forces presence, and it had one in the past. And I think also, just in terms of where it is geographically, it’s an excellent location for a Canadian Forces reserve unit to be.”

Hormann added that they’re looking for people to join.

“We’re open for recruiting. So we would essentially would take as many of the members of the public that are interested, and meet our requirements, to essentially be recruited. We have training that is offered right here in Prince George, and we offer transportation to Kamloops for the initial training, and across Canada for follow up training.”
