The Northern Bear Awareness Society is seeing a large number of bear sightings this time of year.
Around 10-15 calls a day are coming into the society from around the area.
President Dave Bakker says there was an early start to the bear season this year.
“Things started happening in March and now with these warm temperatures and everything growing up right now we are well into the season,” says Bakker, “I think we’re a little ahead of the schedule, but we’re right into it now.”
Bakker says to make sure that you are clearing up any dropped fruit and securing garbage outside your home.
Also make sure bird feeders are not attracting bears into your yard.
