Northern Medical Program sees newest batch of graduates

Some new doctors have graduated from the Northern Medical Program at UNBC.

The group of student doctors had their graduation at the university on Saturday.

Student Ryan LeBlanc says what sets the NMP apart is that physicians are keen on teaching students.

“And they are everywhere, but the teams are a lot smaller,” says LeBlanc, “so when you’re on rotations here (in PG) you are often working one on one with the attending physician, and you just don’t find that in the bigger centres where you have a team of medical students, junior residents, senior residents, fellows and then the attending.”

LeBlanc says its been a highlight to work with different physicians who have helped him foster an interest in internal medicine.

The Northern Medical Program is the program site of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of BC.
