Two Rivers Gallery holds Virtual Indigenous Language Revitalization Panel

A panel discussion is being held by Two Rivers Gallery on Thursday (March 24th) talking about the work being done to embrace Indigenous languages.

The event is being held over Facebook Live at 6 PM, and features multiple speakers.

Kait Herlehy with Two Rivers Gallery said one of the panelists was the motivation to put together this discussion.

“There’s an artist, Marjie Crop Eared Wolf whose artwork explores her learning her ancestral languages, Blackfoot and SecwĂ©pemc. And we decided what better catalyst to start a conversation about other people working in the field of Indigenous Language Revitalization, and the different ways they’re going about that journey.”

Herlehy added that this was an important topic that needed to be discussed more.

“Indigenous languages have been suppressed for a long time, and I think it’s a great opportunity to discuss that, and discuss all of the work that’s being done to bring them back to light.”
