Curling ice not the only thing getting swept in PG

Spring cleaning and street sweeping have begun in Prince George.

Mike Kellett with the City said that they’ve been keeping road crews pretty busy.

“We’re still heavily into pothole patching, and we’ve been doing that since earlier in the year. In fact, we’ve patched almost 5,000 potholes so far this year.”

“The other thing that started just this past week is we’re early into street sweeping. So what folks are going to see between now and June is sidewalk sweeping and flushing, which has already started,” added Kellett.

He said they’ll also be out cleaning gutters and sweeping roads as well, noting that they got a bit of a head start this year with the warmer weather.

Kellett said that winter parking restrictions are still in place until April 15th, but also asks people to not park on the street if they can help it.

He added that a map of the bigger road work being done in the city this year will come out in the next month or so.

“When we get into early May, then the asphalt plants will open up, and we tend to get into our major road rehabilitation time around then.”
