Police investigating two gunshot incidents in Prince George

The Prince George RCMP are currently investigating two separate gunshot incidents.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday (March 1st), police received a report of gunshots heard in the 2100 block of Upland Street.

Police arrived on the scene and confirmed shots were fired, at this time no victims have been located.

Police reviewed video surveillance, which showed a red car leaving the area at the time of the shots.

Police say a vehicle matching it’s description was located a short distance away, and the occupants, who are known to police, were arrested for careless use of a firearm.

According to police, the car was towed to collect further evidence, and the suspects were released pending results of the investigation.

Just after 6:00 a.m. the following morning, the RCMP received the second report of gunshots, this one in a commercial dwelling unit in the 1600 block of Queensway.

When police arrived, they found one victim, suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

The victim, who is known to police, was taken to hospital by Emergency Health Services with non-life threatening injuries.

“These investigations are both in the preliminary stages but currently do not seem related,” said PG RCMP Spokesperson Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“These appear to be targeted events and we do not believe there to be any further risk to the public.”

Anyone with surveillance video or dash cam footage from the 2100 block of Upland Street around 6:00 p.m. on March 1st, or from the 1600 block of Queensway around 5:30 a.m. on March 2nd, is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP.
