Open fire ban for Prince George Fire Centre

5122015-122509_PrinceGeorge Prohibition 20150513 3

Open fires have been banned within the Prince George fire centre in an effort to prevent human caused wild fires and protect human safety.

Specifically, prohibited activities include:

* the burning of stubble or grass
* any fire larger than a campfire
* fireworks and firecrackers
* burn barrels
* tiki torches

Campfires that are a half-metre high by a half-metre wide or smaller are still allowed, as are cooking stoves that use propane or briquettes.

Anyone who disobeys the ban will be subject to a $345 fine, or if you contribute to the start of a wildfire the person responsible may be subject to a penalty of up to $100,000 and ordered to pay all firefighting and associated costs.
