Environment Canada Meteorologist, Doug Lundquist told MyPGNow.com after the snow falls, it will feel a lot like spring.

“At the end of the workweek, we are looking for periods of rain on Friday followed by five degrees on Saturday. I think that forecast for Sunday and Monday is going to change as we will see temperatures in the mid-single digits for much of next week perhaps.”

As we flip the page on February, Lundquist adds we are that much closer to the “shoulder season”.

“February is the big transition month where we go from the cool grey of winter to the warmer spring-like weather that we usually have in March. It’s looking good that the month will be warmer than average.”

Lundquist added the weather office will have a much clearer picture of what spring will look like by March 1st.

In January, Prince George was 1.1 degrees above average for the month with 51 millimeters of precipitation.

“It’s really unusual for us to be that close to normal. That is because we had the colder period followed by the warmer period – wetter, snowier times, and then drier times. It all kind of washed out to make it an average month for us,” added Lundquist.
