Connaught Youth Centre to become wheelchair friendly

Connaught Hill Youth Centre will soon become a much more inclusive facility.

This after an $80,000 grant from the BC government, which will be providing a wheelchair lift, and should ensure the continuation of recreational and educational programs at the location.

Mayor Lynn Hall, says the funding is certainly welcomed:

“There is no question about the necessity of the wheelchair accessible ramp for the Community Centre so its great news”

Prince George – Valemount MLA Shirley Bond also chimed in:

“We are going to work together to put a sustainable business plan together to make sure that this facility remains viable”

The multi-use centre works to support ask risk youth, and offers programs like the Navy, Army, and Air Cadets, as well as the Shaolin Boxing Club and PG Quilters Guild. This funding will also allow the introduction of a program like wheelchair basketball, by providing direct access to the gymnasium.
