PG Local Health Area’s COVID-19 case count doubles over a week

The BC Centre for Disease Control is reporting another sharp increase in COVID-19 cases in the Prince George Local Health Area

There were 234 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the PG area between December 26th to January 1st.

The week before (December 19th to 25th), there were 96 in the area.

From January 1st, 2020, to December 31st, 2021, there have been a total of 5,270 cases in the Prince George local health area.

The BCCDC’s latest data shows 68% of people 70 and older in the Prince George LHA have now had their third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. When vaccination numbers were last updated two weeks ago, 66% of people 70 and older had their booster.

29% of those between the ages of 5 and 11 in the area have now had their first dose, and increase from 22% two weeks ago.

88% of people 12 and older in the Prince George area have now had their first dose of a vaccine, no change from two weeks ago. 84% have had a second, a one percent increase.
