Fire destroys two down-town businesses

A large fire has completely destroyed two downtown businesses.

22 firefighters from 4 halls responded to the blaze on the 1200 block of 3rd avenue last night at 945pm and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the structure.

Fire fighting was hampered by the close proximity of neighbouring buildings and the intensity of the fire.

Customers in the restaurant next door, Nancy O’s, were evacuated without incident.

The fire took about two hours to bring under control and two buildings; ‘Flipside Second-Hand’ and ‘Homework’ were completely destroyed by the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

There were no reported injuries.

Nancy O’s Restaurant shared the following on Facebook late last night;

We are very sad to say the rumours are true , there was a massive fire that started at our new restaurant , next door to NancyOs, thankfully no one was hurt (huge shout out to the lady who 1st noticed the fire and alerted all our customers, thank you ,thank you, thank you) . We watched as the PG firemen put their everything into saving the heritage buildings. Unfortunately Homework Prince George didn’t make it , initial reports for NancyOs are uncertain , smoke and water damage maybe, no direct fire damage.
