Stolen vehicle leads to wild arrest for RCMP

The Prince George RCMP wants to thank the public for their help in apprehending a suspect who stole a vehicle.

On Tuesday, the RCMP received reports of a break and enter and a stolen vehicle from a residence on Fairway road just east of Prince George.

The 1999 GMC Pickup was found travelling south bound on the Simon Fraser bridge at a high rate of speed early on Wednesday morning, a pursuit was not engaged, however police started patrols in the area just South of the city.

A member of the public then reported they had seen a picture of the stolen vehicle on social media, and called police to report a truck they believed matched the description of the stolen truck on 15 Mile Road between Buckhorn and Red Rock.

Police immediately closed in on the area and the vehicle was located, with the driver accelerating towards police cruisers and causing a head on collision. The driver was combative and it was only after the assistance of police dogs was he taken into custody.

The 21 year old suspect was a Prince George man with an outstanding arrest warrant, and he was taken to UHNBC with non life threatening injuries.
