Snowfall warning to continue into Sunday

Environment Canada’s has issued a snowfall warning for the Prince George, Stuart-Nechako, Cariboo, Yellowhead, and Yellowhead Highway.

“Not too much by way of accumulation in the Prince George area yet, [as of 10:00 AM]” said Meteorologist Trevor Smith.

“We’re still hopeful we’ll see probably another 10 cms, snow continuing through the day and probably easing into this evening.”

Smith added they issue snowfall warnings when they are expecting around 10 cms in less than 12 hours.

Smith said Vanderhoof is expecting the same amount of snowfall, and the Cariboo is most likely going to be hit harder.

“The Williams Lake, Quesnel areas, maybe have seen about 5 to 8 cms so far, and they’re probably going to see another 10 cms,” Smith said.

“Some of the communities closer to the Cariboo Mountains, like Horsefly, Barkerville and Likely, they can see maybe 20 cms total from this storm.”

Smith added that it’s going to be a white Christmas, as temperatures will remain well below average,  with more snow possible Tuesday through Wednesday.
