PG Hospice starts up its Give a Gift campaign

The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society (PGHPCS) started its Christmas Give a Gift Campaign today (Monday) that will run until December 31st.

Donna Flood with PGHPCS said the campaign is to help buy groceries for the Rotary Hospice House, and that the cost of feeding guests and families at the house is over $28,000 a year.

“What sets the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society apart from other healthcare providers is that we also support the family and friends when they come to visit our guests, and it’s not unusual for everyone to sit down for dinner.”

Flood added that it costs about $75 a day to feed someone, and about $525 a week, and they’re hoping to raise enough to purchase groceries for a year.

“So it’s really ensuring that when people are coming together at the Rotary Hospice House, they can come together as a family and have those meals together, and all those things that continue to make it a home like atmosphere.”

Beaverly Fire and Rescue started off the campaign with a $2,800 donation, and Flood said that these are funds that go right back into the community.

“During Christmas, this is the time where 100% of anything donated to the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society goes to support the people in Prince George.”

Anyone interested in donating can do so at the PGHPCS Admin Office, or on their website.
