Fraser-Fort George tourism numbers rising

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is seeing an increase in tourism over the past few years.

Over 179,000 people came to the eight regional district sites in 2014, up 16% from 2013. That increase is despite a dip in a key demographic.

“One of the things we measure is the amount of visits from schools, and with the job action that we saw in 2014 we saw a pretty significant reduction.” External Relations Manager Renee McCloskey said

She added that she expects those numbers to rebound this year and hopes everyone gets out and enjoys the area this summer.

“In every community, we have great museums and galleries, so if you haven’t had an opportunity to visit lately, make sure you get out there and see what’s in store because there is a lot there.”
