$10 million dollars is being put into replacing Willow River Bridge on Upper Fraser Road with a modern, two-lane bridge.
The current bridge, located about 37 km northeast of Prince George, was a temporary setup after the structure received damage back in 2002.
The contract was awarded to Ruskin Construction Ltd. and work is slated to begin this winter and wrap up for winter 2022-23.
580 metres of Upper Fraser Road will be realigned, 100 metres of Arnett Road will be reconstructed, and the temporary bridge will remain in place until construction is complete.
“We know this is an important crossing to residents and travellers in the area, and this improvement in the Upper Fraser Road area will make travel safer for everyone who relies on this route,” said Rob Fleming, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.
