With an increasing number of human wildlife conflicts – including here in the North – the provincial government has now stepped in to offer up some help.
The BC government has awarded WildsafeBC with nearly $275,000, looking to educate the public on the dangers of human conflicts with wildlife like bears, cougars, coyotes and wolves.
The Minister of Environment Mary Polak says Wildsafe is a vital organization:
“We know that organizations such as Wildsafe BC are the ones that provide us with a really valuable resource right in communities, helping people to be aware”
The funding will help support more than 100 communities throughout BC, and will see 22 coordinators providing presentations, tips and school visits.
