The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is warning residents about an ongoing telephone scam that mimics the Regional District’s phone number.
RDFFG says they would never ask for a social insurance number or credit card number by telephone, and anyone claiming to be from the district that asks for such information is likely a scammer.
Anyone that receives a call like this is being asked to ignore it and hang up.
Residents can also report the incident to the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre.
To check if a call from the Regional District is legitimate, contact the district’s main number at 250 960 4400.
We are warning of a scam appearing to come from our phone number. We never ask for SIN or credit card number by phone. If you get a call for this information, it is a scam. Please ignore, hang up, and report the incident to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre https://t.co/JCIXnn3g4o
