PG Chamber of Commerce weighs in on budget

More reaction from the Federal budget announcement, as the Prince George Chamber of Commerce has now chimed in.

CEO Christie Ray says local businesses will benefit from the tax cuts, but perhaps not as quickly. While also acknowledging the most important factor of the announcement:

“The budget was balanced, I think that is really important. I know that the Conservative government has assured that will happen each year and we appreciate that, we think it’s important to maintain a balanced budget”

Ray says the Chamber was pleased with the budget, and also mentioned the extension to the accelerated capital cost allowance program, meaning that some manufacturers will be able to write off their large equipment faster, with the intent of encouraging investment in new technology and a stimulation of the economy.
