Police in Prince George finally made an arrest in connection to last summer`s Econolodge Motel fire that claimed three lives.
On Thursday (September 16th), the RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit took 35-year-old, local resident Justin Kyle Aster into custody.
The B.C. Prosecution Service approved the following charges:
– Criminal Negligence Causing Death x3
– Arson in Relation to Inhabited Property
– Arson Damaging Property
He will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
According to mounties, Aster is known to the police.
The Prince George RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit began an investigation into the fire that occurred the morning of July 8th, 2020.
The B.C. Coroners Service also conducted a separate investigation into the deaths.
“Investigators in our Serious Crime Unit have put many long hours into this file and are proud to be able to bring a suspect forward to the courts in relation to these three tragic deaths,” stated Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.
