ICYMI: Climb for Cancer will hold a concert to help raise funds for cancer patients

A BBQ and concert are being held in support of Climb For Cancer, a hiking climb raising money for the Kordyban Lodge.

The BBQ is being held today (Saturday) at Northern Lights Estate Winery, the day before the climb, and will have food trucks, an artisan market, local musicians, a silent auction, and a door prize.

“Because this is an outdoor event, it is totally acceptable by Northern Health standards. And so we are allowed to invite the entire community out to join us for this. It’s a great way to support people undergoing cancer treatment and also enjoy each other’s company,” said Doug Bell with the Climb for Cancer Planning Committee.

The event had to be postponed, and the number of participants for the climb is only at about 60% compared to last year’s numbers, but Bell is still optimistic and wants people to sign up and help fundraise to meet their $50,000 goal.

“Although we are a little behind previous years in terms of both donations and total sign-up numbers, we’re very bullish that we’re going to have our best year yet. And we’re really encouraging people to sign up for the climb early on.”

Because of the limited parking at the orchard, a shuttle will go between the Winery and Pacific Western Brewing to get people to and from the event.
