From Japan to PG; Timberwolves MSOC inks speedster Omori

A Japanese midfielder has found his way to Prince George.

Less than two years after signing Kensho Ando, the UNBC Timberwolves went back to Tokyo signed speedster Toranosuke Omori today (Friday).

“I am walking on sunshine. I am really happy to come and join here.”

Toranosuke played four years at Gakushuin University in Tokyo, but learned through a scouting agency that he could make the trip to Canada for an opportunity to continue his collegiate career and pursue further education.

“Honestly, I didn’t know it was an option to go to Canada as a student-athlete. It has enabled me to come here and play soccer, and also study English here. I have to brush up my English more.”

Omori grew up playing the game in Tokyo and is built powerfully and possesses quick reflexes and acceleration.

The 23-year-old and the T-Wolves open the Canada West season on the road in Victoria on September 10th.
