A local service agency has been given a special classification.
AimHi has been designated a “Safe Harbour” by the Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Services Agencies.
Executive Assistant Sherry Laxdal says Safe Harbour means accepting everyone in the community.
“And ultimately what Safe Harbour is, is a safe place for someone, that might need a phone call, or a place to warm up,” says Laxdal, “or just needs to sit down for a while in a safe environment where they feel good.”
Laxdal says people can access these services at their main office on Kerry Street.
She says this aligns with AimHi’s vision of “how can we help you?”
