Prince George Hospice Dream Home event smashes $100,000 fundraising goal

The Prince George Hospice Celebrity Ticket Seller event was held yesterday (Wednesday) with the hopes of selling 1,000 tickets in a 12-hour timeframe.

By the end of the day, a total of 1,705 tickets were sold for $100 each, nearly doubling their initial goal with the help of a few local celebrities.

The event raised over $170,000, without including the funds raised from the 50/50 tickets sold for participants to enter to win $150,000.

“This was done through the support of 48 different community difference makers and actually the support of all the community that went out and bought tickets and supported what we did,” explained Prince George Hospice Society Executive Director, Donna Flood.

Some of the people in assistance were Maryeta O’dine on the National Snowboard Cross Team, Mayor Lyn Hall, and Councillor Kyle Sampson.

“We had real estate agents, car salespeople, we had local politicians, our city council came out to support this event, we had local business people, entrepreneurs, national sports personalities,” said Flood.

Tickets were sold at the Dream Home on 4047 Brink Drive, and the draw for the home will be held on December 17th.

“The Dream Home funding helps support the work we do, we’re only partially funded for the Rotary Hospice House, and we received no funding for any of the other community programs that we do and we probably have about 25 community programs that support people in our community,” she added.

Dream Home tickets and 5050/ tickets can be purchased on the Prince George Hospice Dream Home website.
