Prince George bars and restaurants gearing up for playoff hockey

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are here.

Prince George bars and restaurants always see a big bump in business come playoff time, especially if the Canucks and other Canadian teams are in the running.

“It’s very exciting we have a lot of new teams in.” Westwood Pub owner Nathan Coole said. “Especially a lot of Canadian teams with the Cinderella story of the Ottawa Senators, the Jets making the playoffs for the first time since moving to Winnipeg, Calgary being the underdogs making it to the playoffs and it’s always good to have the Canucks in there.”

He says he plans on seeing a 40% bump in business during the weekday games while being at full capacity on the weekend.

He added that Prince George has a wide range of hockey fans team-wise.

“You have lots of Vancouver fans, Calgary, Montreal fans and lots of Jets fans too. I’m hoping that the games kind of switch off on different nights and we get good crowds every night.”

He says he has extra staff on in both the kitchen and front of house, and that customers are always well behaved and focused on the hockey.
