Hospice Society hosting unique fundraiser at Westwood Pub

Prince George residents have an opportunity to release some stress while raising funds for a good cause.

The PG Hospice Society is kicking off its Rage Room fundraiser today (Friday), where residents can smash broken plates and other glassware that would’ve been sent to the landfill.

PG Hospice Society’s Resale shop Marketing and Sale’s Manager, Amanda Holmes says the idea for the Rage Room stemmed from being environmentally conscious.

“Basically we were just trying to think of ways that we could reuse items that we typically have to put into the landfill or recycle due to the fact that they come in with chips or are broken,” she explained.

She adds this event ensures that they can still profit off items donated to the Resale Shop that they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to sell because they were broken.

“All money raised from the Rage Room fundraiser goes to support the Prince George Hospice Society and the Rotary Hospice House which in turn enables them to employ caregivers, nursing, provides beds for patients and our guests,” she added.

The event will be hosted at the Westwood Pub, as they have a large yellow bin set up for participants to put on protective wear and start smashing things.

It will be held from noon until 8 pm today, and will be ongoing until August 13th.

Participants are being asked to wear closed-toed shoes and long-sleeved shirts and long pants, as well as the safety glasses, hard hats, and safety gowns provided by the PG Hospice Society.
