Nearly 38% of the Walk-in Wednesday appointments in BC were first doses.
That’s according to the Ministry of Health who provided an update today (Thu) regarding the one-day vaccination blitz.
80% of the 20-thousand doses allocated were used in the province.
In Prince George, over 400 people headed to the Conference and Civic Centre to receive a dose.
Dr. Bonnie Henry stated that getting vaccinated is more crucial than ever, with the upcoming school year upon us.
“Now is your chance. And particularly as we head back to school, back to university come September it’s going to be more and more important for all of us can be protected so that we can manage this pandemic.”
“There will continue to be quick and easy ways for you to get your vaccine across the province so I encourage people to talk to those who have been immunized.”
Northern Health Spokesperson Eryn Collins told MyPGNow the health authority would still like to hit a certain threshold.
“We still want to push towards getting 80% of everyone immunized and there will be lots of opportunities from pop-up to mobile clinics in the coming weeks.”
82.6% of BC adults have received at least one dose of the vaccine while 70.6% of adults are fully immunized.
For those 12 and up, 81.7% have got at least one jab while 68.4% are fully inoculated.
More than 33,000 British Columbians showed up at clinics throughout the province and got vaccinated during the first Walk-in Wednesday, including more than 7,600 first doses.
