Fish for a Wish hopes to reel in support

Fish for a Wish, being held at Aleza Lake on August 7, hopes to help a teenage girl with Leukemia pay the bills so that she can keep getting treatment.

The event is a fundraiser put on by local families that has been held every year for the past five years to help people struggling with the costs of medical treatment.

Kyra Edgson’s family has to travel from Prince George to Vancouver frequently to get treatment for her Leukemia.

“Last year was for the Edgson Family, and again they have decided through the UHNBC nurses on a vote of who to care for this year. There were a lot of nominees, but they had voted for Kyra Edgson again,” said Wes Mitchell, who is helping support the fundraiser.

Mitchell says the event will be going on throughout the day, and have things like fishing, drumming, and a silent auction.

“It’s what Prince George is all about. It’s local families helping out local families. It’s really quality out there, and it’s good people.”
