Organizations join forces to support local tattoo shop struck by devastating fire

Community members have been putting all hands on deck to raise funding for the Handsome Cabin Boy Tattoo shop, which was found engulfed in flames on the morning of July 20th.

The fire is being considered ‘suspicious’ and is believed to have caused about $200,000 worth of damage.

Within hours of the news of the fire being broken, a GoFundMe page was set up, raising thousands of dollars within the first 24 hours.

It has since raised $21,775, surpassing the initial $20,000 goal set.

Now another local tattoo shop is joining in on the fundraising efforts with a Flash Day on Monday, August 2nd.

Sabrina Dendulk, Shop Manager of Gold Tooth Grin Tattoos says she has already received plenty of interest for the fundraiser from community members.

“For the most part we really just want to promote a great sense of community in the tattoo industry, and also we are local business owners so we really feel for local businesses when things like that happen,” she explained.

On Monday, the Gold Tooth Grin artists will be offering pre-drawn flash designs with set prices of $80 and up.

Gold Tooth Grin will be opening up at 10 am on Flash Day, and will allow 5 people at a time to come in and choose a design, once the design is chosen, the client will wait to be contacted by the artist once they’re ready to start.

“We’re going to start taking names and phone numbers once people have decided which piece they would like and then as the day goes we give them a call and then they come and then we tattoo the flash on them,” she explained.

100% of the proceeds from Flash Day will go towards Handsome Cabin Boy.

“For the artists themselves too, all of their supplies and everything was burnt up in the fire so that’s thousands of dollars that the artists themselves now have to cover and we really just feel for them so we want to make sure that we can give them a good step up and help them get going again,” Dendulk added.

Food and drinks will also be available for purchase at the show, and a silent auction table will also be available with items donated by local businesses.

Tickets are available at Birch and Boar for $25, or through emailing Mad Loon Entertainment all proceeds will be going towards Handsome Cabin Boy Tatoo Shop.
