2.1 billion hours given by volunteers

Volunteer Prince George is thanking all the people who step up to help out.

This week is National Volunteer Week and Volunteer PG President Steven Perison says there are over 12.5 million volunteers across the country.

“These volunteers give about 2.1 billion volunteer hours, which is over a million full time jobs,” says Perison, “so without them many services and lifestyles we live with would cease to exist.”

Perison says the impact of volunteering goes beyond the hours given and the skills contributed.

He says there are close to 130 different organizations that have volunteer opportunities in the city.
