The Prince George chapter of the British Columbia Schizophrenia Society recently received a $5,000 grant from Four Rivers Co-op to support their work within the community.
The BCSS works to provide people living with Schizophrenia and their families mental health and therapy services.
All funding will help replace the Prince George Branch’s aging kitchen equipment that supports their Cost Recovery Kitchen Program, which operates as one of the main components of the ACE Activity Centre.
“It is so nice as we return to normal, to have this new equipment to use as we go back to regular programming. We are so grateful to Four Rivers Co-op for their support and generosity,” said Nansi Long, Centre Coordinator.
This funding has allowed the BCSS Prince George Branch to upgrade their equipment to allow them to continue operating their Healthy Lifestyles Cafe.
The $5,000 is coming from Co-op’s Community Support Fund, as the branch is just one of 15 organizations to receive funding from the fund in 2020.
Four Rivers Co-op has been operating the Community Support Fund for 5 years, providing funding to community groups, non-profits, and charitable organizations every year.
“The work that the British Columbia Schizophrenia Society Prince George Branch does makes a huge difference in our community,” said Bud Pye, President of the Four Rivers Co-op Board of Directors. “By helping them upgrade their equipment to continue to provide this service to the community, as well as the clients of the British Columbia Schizophrenia Society, we believe that we are helping them provide an important piece of support to the community.”
