The Cariboo Regional District has issued an evacuation order for the Big Stick Lake area, southwest of Prince George.
The evacuation route is Highway 20 to Williams Lake.
The Order lists what you should do if you live in the area:
- You must leave immediately.
- Register at the ESS Centre at the Firehall at 230 Hodgeson Road in Williams Lake.
- Close all windows and doors.
- Do not shut off your natural gas.
- Close gate latches, but do not lock them.
- Gather your family, and take a neighbour if they need help.
- Take critical items if they are immediately available (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys).
- Take pets in kennels or on leash.
- Do not use more vehicles than you have to.
- Do not use cell phones unless you need emergency service.
The Prince George Fire Centre has 56 active fires, 7 of them are of note:
- Chilako
- Black Pine
- Cutoff Creek
- Forres Mountain
- Klawli Lake
- Mount Porter
- Tentfire Creek
BC Wildfire Service spotted a drone near one of the wildfires in the province and reminds people anyone interfering with wildfires could see a massive fine and jail time.
There has been a drone observed near the Becker Lake (K41727) wildfire. If a drone collides with firefighting aircraft, the consequences could be deadly. Anyone caught operating a drone that interferes with fire control could be fined up to $100K, jailed for up to a year, or both pic.twitter.com/QXcz2vEqj9
