The Buckinghorse River Fire, north of PG, is currently being held, according to BC Wildfire Service.
The fire is 6000 hectares in size but doesn’t threaten Highway 97 North.
8 firefighters are assigned to hot spots and extinguish areas that potentially pose a risk of continued fire growth.
The Prince George Fire Centre has 6 active fires of note:
- Black Pine
- Chilako
- Cutoff Creek
- Forres Mountain
- Klawli Lake
- Tentfire Creek
There is an Area Restriction Order for the area near the Forres Mountain Fire
There are a total of 37 active fires in the PG Fire Centre.
The Canadian Red Cross launched a fund for BC Fires to support those affected.
The Prince George Fire Centre and Fort St. John Zone are issuing a public information update pertaining to the Buckinghorse River (G80997) wildfire. This wildfire is classified as Being Held at 6000 HA with no immediate risk to #BCHwy97 N.
