Police in Prince George uncovered drugs, ammunition, cash, and a stolen loaded pistol during a traffic stop on Monday around 1:25 am.
Prince George resident Kenneth Raymond Bishop was stopped in the area of Highway 97 and 15th avenue after he was found driving well over the speed limit.
The officer then conducted an impaired driving investigation and arrested the 40-year-old for possession of a controlled substance after locating cash, drugs, and a loaded firearm.
Afterward, police determined the pistol had been stolen from the North Okanogan at some point last year.
Bishop was then transported to the Prince George RCMP detachment where he was held for court.
The BC Prosecution Service approved the following charges:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Order
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
- Transport of a Firearm in a Careless Manner
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
According to the PG RCMP, Bishop will remain in custody until his next scheduled court appearance.
