Unemployment rates in Prince George appear to be way down in comparison to this time last year.
In March of 2014, the unemployment in PG was at 5.6%, while it currently sits at 4.5%.
In BC as a whole, the rates were also down from this time last year sitting at 5.8% – down 0.2%.
StatsCan Analyst Vincent Farrao says one specific factor has lead to the decrease:
“In British Columbia we have more employment in basically one sector which is transportation and warehousing. That went up for the month of March”
Nationally the unemployment rate has remained consistent, at 6.8%.
