High winds, hail and thunderstorms may hit PG

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Prince George.

Environment Canada says we could see 90km/h winds, pea to nickel-sized hail, heavy downpours, and lightning.

This is expected to happen anytime late this afternoon and this evening (Wednesday).

Willaims Lake, PG, Quesnel McGregor, and the Yellowhead area may all be subject to these storms.

PG has been subject to some pretty extreme weather this week, having 4 straight days of breaking heat records.

According to Environment Canada, this could be a sign of the weather becoming less extreme.

“Over the next couple days, it will become less hot. I’m not going to say it’ll become cooler,” says Terri Lang, Meteorologist with Environment Canada.

She says with the change of air mass, the air is starting to destabilize, so she expects a chance of thundershowers or dry lightning.
