Northern Health goes four days without a single COVID-19 case

The nearly 5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines are making an impact on BC’s case counts.

According to Dr.Bonnie Henry, 1,368,464 of those are second doses.

This means that over 78% of all adults, and 77% of those 12 and up have received their first jab.

Over 31% of adults and almost 30% of those 12+ in the province are fully immunized.

29 new cases of the virus were reported in BC, but for the 4th day in a row, none of those were in the north.

There are now 876 active cases in the province.

Of those, 110 people are hospitalized, 34 of them are in ICU.

No new COVID-19 related deaths were reported.

“British Columbia continues to maintain our positive momentum, allowing our province to safely move forward with Step 3 of BC’s Restart plan. We have seen that community transmission, hospitalizations and deaths are all declining as immunizations are going up,” said Dr. Bonnie Henry.

“This is a significant transition for all of us. So we encourage everyone to be respectful of others who may be moving at a slower pace, as we take this next step forward to put the COVID-19 pandemic behind us and make this a summer of hope and rejuvenation,” she added.
