According to the Ministry of Labour, employers can apply to get reimbursement of wages paid to workers who took sick leave related to COVID-19.
The Employer reimbursement program starts today (Thursday), and allows businesses to apply for up to $200 a day, a maximum of three days per worker.
The program is retroactive to May 20th but employers must be registered for WorkSafeBC compensation coverage and can’t currently provide paid sick leave benefits.
This is available to employers where workers needed to stay home due to:
- being diagnosed with COVID-19
- are waiting for COVID-19 test results
- need to self-isolate due to public health orders
- have been told by employers to stay home due to exposure risk
You can find more information, and apply for reimbursement here.
