Kolton Cousins is becoming a fan of bubble life.
The 18-year-old forward led the Prince George Spruce Kings with a pair of goals on Saturday in a 5-2 victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs extending their win streak to three games.
“I think guys are working hard as we stick to our structure. Our shot selection was pretty good tonight putting everything on net and sticking to the process. I think that is key and all 23 guys are going right now, which is why we are having success,” added Cousins.
Special teams proved to be an early difference maker as Christian Buono notched his seventh of the season on the power-play to give PG the early 1-0 advantage.
While shorthanded, Rowan Miller made good on a Killian McGregor-Bennett pass beating the outstretched Mathieu Caron doubling the PG lead after 20 minutes.

The Spruce Kings continued to up the ante in the middle frame as former Cariboo Cougar John Herrington drove to the Chiefs net and tucked home the puck past Caron.
Cousins extended the PG lead to 4-0 less than two minutes later.
Chilliwack finally showed signs of life towards the end of the second, courtesy of a Jackson Munro power-play marker, trimming the deficit back down to three.
Both teams traded goals in the third as Cousins rippled the mesh short handed while Ray Fust made the score a little more respectable for the Chiefs.

It was a game of keep away according to the off-ice officials.
The Spruce Kings outshot Chilliwack 45-18 overall, which included a 28-7 margin after the opening 40 minutes.
“We know Caron is a pretty good goalie so we knew we had to test him early putting pucks on net with some traffic and good things happen when you shoot the puck,” mentioned Cousins.
Aaron Trotter was only called upon to make 16 saves for PG who took sole possession of first place with a record of 8-3-0-1.
Next up for the Spruce Kings is another contest with the Merritt Centennials (2-9-0-0) tomorrow (Sunday).
Alex Ochitwa, Blake Astorino and Brandon Dent who are all from PG play for Merritt.
