Prince George man fined in 2018 poaching investigation

A Prince George man has been fined $3,000 for poaching a spike bull elk in a closed season, the BC Conservation Office says.

During a joint investigation into the offense – which took place near Hudson’s Hope in Oct. 2018 – the COS and RCMP determined a male had trespassed to kill a spike bull elk on cultivated land.

The evidence of sex and the head had been removed from the elk carcass, which were later found in the bush.

DNA analysis concluded the spike bull head was from the elk carcass.

A 15 percent victim surcharge was also issued.
