The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has approved changes to the Foothills Regional Landfill and transfer station hours beginning July 1st.
The weekend operational hours will be from 9 am to 5 pm Saturdays and Sundays and transfer station hours will be the same.
Superintendent of Solid Waste Operations, Aaron Moberg spoke with MyPGNow.com.
“Additionally, Sunday hours will be extended at the Foothills Landfill, Quinn Recycling Depot, and the Vanway Transfer Station. This change will increase the accessibility to these facilities on a day where high residential traffic can occur.”
The board also approved the transfer stations at Bear Lake, Berman Lake, West Lake, as well as the Hixon and Bear Lake Marshalling areas will be closed on stat holidays.
In addition, representatives from the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations & Rural Development shared an update on the timber supply area apportionments for the Prince George and Lakes Timber Supply Area (TSA).
Annual allowable cuts in both TSA’s decreased in recent years due to beetle infestation and wildfire.
In Prince George, the annual allowable cut was reduced by 33% in 2017.
The Board approved the following requests for Community and Recreation Grants:
• $9,710 to the Ness Lake Recreation Commission for operating expenses, insurance, and pickleball equipment
• $1,446 to the Nukko Lake Recreation Commission for insurance
• $1392 to the Reid Lake Farmers Institute for insurance
