The Prince George Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes signed a three-year extension contract with the team.
The BCHL has evolved tremendously in my time in this league and I am proud of what we have accomplished and how we have embraced that evolution in Prince George to become a top
team and franchise,” said Hawes.
He started with the Junior A team as an assistant coach in 2005 and is now in his 16th year with the team and tenth as a GM.
In 2008, Hawes was an assistant coach when the team took home the National Championship and served as GM when they took the cup again in 2019.
“It has taken a lot of hard work from a lot of people to get the organization to where it is,” he added, “I have learned the importance of surrounding yourself with like-minded and good people that care deeply about our community and our team.”
Hawes is a Fred Page Cup and Doyle Cup Champion recipient and was also named the BCHL Executive of the year in 2019.
“Mike strives to make others around him better, from our players, coaching staff, and to our front office, added Spruce Kings President, Dave Keough, “he has a great reputation within the BCHL and across Junior Hockey, which has helped our organization become one of the best in Junior A Hockey.”
