Balanced budget for RDFFG in 2015

A $36.3 million operating budget has been approved by the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

Of that $17.5 million will be funded by property taxes, a decrease of $171,000 from last year.

Administrator Jim Martin says a number of capital projects are pushing the budget up this year.

“Those are the big ticket items at the Foothills Boulevard Landfill and then Mackenzie looking to build a new transfer station there,” says Martin, “and a number of minor purchases of fire trucks for volunteer fire services.”

Martin says they are also improving the water system in Bear Lake.

He says the budget will also be funded by grants and reserve funds.
