Exploration Place eyeing Canada Day reopening

The Exploration Place in Prince George will remain closed to the public until the summer.

The facility is currently undergoing a series of renovations during the pandemic including the removal of the steam engine boat.

CEO, Tracy Calogheros told MyPGNow.com they were planning for a March break re-launch, but due to the pandemic, that doesn’t seem likely.

“So now, we are going to sit tight and plan on a July 1st reopening as it stands at the moment but I do anticipate that we will be active in the park at the beginning of May.”

“I think the important piece of that message is that we are really being driven by science and so until it’s safe to reopen, our facility physically inside we won’t do it.”

Calogheros states they have a plan in place to run the Little Prince train at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park starting in May.

“We will for sure be around next summer, we will operate that train next year and I think we have a system in place for the Little Prince and we have a bunch of other plans so if you can’t be in the building with us next year, we will be in the park with you.”

“We are continuing to work our way with what our relationship looks like with the community and we will continue to provide the world-class exhibits that we’ve always had. I am pretty excited about it there is an expansion to our Animal Ambassadors program coming along with a few others.”
