The Prince George Cougars are raising funds for the Salvation Army by moving a longstanding tradition online.
“Our annual Teddy & Toque Toss game is a tradition, and while it’s a lot of fun for everyone, we are very concerned that our inability to hold the game this year is leaving a major gap for the Salvation Army and the families who are in need of the many thousands of items donated each year,” said Cougars’ Vice President, Business Andy Beesley.
The WHL team will be hosting a virtual Teddy and Toque Toss in the hopes of raising $5,000 for the PG Salvation Army.
“I would encourage all fans to think about what they would have spent coming to the game: their tickets, concession food, items for throwing onto the ice, and consider donating that sum as a wonderful way to support our community. On behalf of our entire organization, I want to say thank you very much to all of our fans who are able to offer their support,” he added.
Participants can either choose how much they wish to donate or purchase a package worth $25, $50, $100 or $500 to support the event.
All donations can be made on the Cougars website or the Salvation Army website to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
