With face masks being mandated in most places across the country now, how often should you wash them?
To avoid doing a load of laundry every day, two B.C. sisters came up with a way to wash masks as needed.

“I thought, I can’t be the only person who has this problem. I think anyone wearing a mask wants to wear a clean one. It’s basically like changing your underwear. You don’t want to wear dirty underwear every day. Masks are essentially the same. ” said co-founder Tammy Sablic.
“We wanted to develop a quick, hygienic and efficient way to wash our masks, without having to wait until we collect enough clothes to throw it in the washing machine,” she added.
Despite having purchased a number of masks, Sablic found hers to get dirty relatively quickly.
“They would accidentally fall on the ground outside, get stained with lipstick or just plain ‘get gross’ with the scent of my breathing on it all day long,” she said.
Sablic recommends filling the back two thirds full with hot water and detergent.
Substituting facial cleanser for detergent is also an option for sensitive skin, she added.
