Difference of opinions on new minimum wage in BC

Reaction to the new minimum wage hike has seen some mixed results.

Irene Lanzinger with the BC Federation of labour was clearly not pleased with a 20 cent increase:

“I think its pathetic, Its a pathetic response to the undreds of thousands of people who work full time and live in poverty, and this scheme that the government has put in place will guarantee that those people continue to live in poverty”

The Prince George Chamber of Commerce also chimed in, President Ranjit Gill says a $15 minimum wage would spell disaster for small businesses:

“Those who are getting paid $15 would go up to $20, those who are at $20 would go up to $25, and really it would be a blow to our economy I mean it all falls into place that if wages go up that drastically that our commodities are going to go up”

BC will see the current minimum wage increased from $10.25 an hour, to $10.45 in September.

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
