The finishing touches have been put on a project to upgrade the intersection of Domano Boulevard and St. Lawrence Avenue/Gladstone Drive in lower College Heights.
Since September, crews have been working to install traffic signals to help facilitate development, improve network access for the surrounding residential areas, and improve intersection road safety.
Since late last week, the signals have been flashing red and operating as a four-way stop to test the lights.
Starting at 1:00pm today (Tuesday), the signals will begin functioning as a regular intersection featuring “permissive left turns,” which means turning can occur on the green light when it is safe to do so.
The new signals operate in a manner similar to those the City installed in 2019 at the 22nd Avenue and Ospika Boulevard intersection.
The lights remain green on Domano until vehicles approach the intersection on Gladstone Drive or St. Lawrence Avenue.
The updated intersection has vehicle detection technology and pedestrian-activated crosswalks.
