While the UNBC campus is holed up behind a picket line, the Northern Sport Centre remains open for business .
Chairman of their Board, Cliff Dezell says non-contract staff are running the facility and regular members are coming through the doors for their regular programs, while some choose to not cross the picket line.
“We remain open and it’s a choice that the individual member and the organization as to whether they wish to cross the picket line,” he says.
Dezell says membership is down, but not significantly, and also notes that membership will be free for a month, mostly to show appreciation while the Centre was being used during the Winter Games.
UNBC has just announced that negotiations will continue Thursday.
