Prince George continues to bask in the sunshine as we head towards the end of summer.
According to Environment Canada, 24 new temperature records were set across BC yesterday (Thursday).
However, Meteorologist Carmen Hartt told MyPGNow.com the northern capital wasn’t quite as lucky.
“Prince George has a pretty long history of records and didn’t actually set one, yesterday they reached 24.6 degrees and the record is 28.3 for September 10th.”
She added the warm Pacific Ocean waters are contributing to the conditions.
“And that warmth is contributing to a persistent ridge of high pressure over the province and influencing the weather over the province and it has in fact been an unusually warm September.”
Hartt said more sunshine is in the weekend forecast with temperatures around 20 degrees.
In addition, an air quality statement has been released by The Weather Network advising some parts across BC will be affected.
PG may see some smoke, with the anticipated smoke trajectory indicating areas impacted will grow to the north and east as the weekend progresses with the most widespread impacts expected on Sunday.
